Vimse started because every app we tried did too much or too little. We wanted something fast, offline, and honest — an app that helps you organize daily life without getting in the way.

V

We started Vimse with a simple question: why is it so hard to keep track of what to cook and what to buy? Existing apps were either overloaded with features we didn't need, or too basic to be actually useful. We wanted something in between — thoughtful, fast, and designed for how people actually live.

The first version was built for ourselves. A place to save recipes we found online, adjust servings on the fly, and send ingredients straight to a shopping list. No social features, no discovery algorithm, no premium tier with hidden essentials. Just a tool that works.

We believe software should respect the people who use it. That means no ads, no tracking, no dark patterns. It means working offline, syncing quietly in the background, and getting out of your way. Vimse is built in Norway with these values at its core, and we plan to keep it that way.

01

Offline-first

Your app should work regardless of your connection. Vimse stores everything locally and syncs when it can.

02

Respect your time

No ads, no push notifications begging you back, no gamification. Open the app, do what you need, close it.

03

Privacy by default

Your recipes and shopping lists are personal. We don't read them, analyze them, or sell them.

04

Honest software

No dark patterns, no misleading upsells. We tell you exactly what Vimse does and doesn't do.

05

Focused scope

We'd rather do two things extremely well than ten things poorly. Recipes and shopping first, then we expand carefully.

06

Quality over speed

Every detail matters. Transitions, typography, the feel of checking off an item. Software should feel good to use.
